Abbot Street Studios

Tucked away in the basement of a factory building we find Abbot Street Studios. We were greeted by Studio Manager Tuba and her ‘colleague’ Mono.

The studios are now well into their 6th year and Tuba definitely has a spring in her step. Visitors are given a warm welcome and able to use the two live rooms, a control room, machine room and spacious lounge. The control room has cool fluorescent lighting which brings a futuristic feel whilst the lounge area is relaxing with its leather sofas and lazy hanging chair.

I mentioned Mono; he ‘assists’ Tuba with greeting visitors to the studios. He is a wax sculpture and has the look of a bemused person. Mono brings a unique feel to the studios and is a definite talking point – it is a shame he cannot always hear what is said about him, but he only has one ear!!!

We wanted to say a huge thank you to Tuba (and Mono) for taking time out of her hectic schedule to show us around and chat to us about the studio.
